Things You Should Never Do at TSA Checkpoints

Today we are talking about getting through airport security without any headaches. I know we all love packing our favorite snacks and drinks and everyone has different tastes but there are rules we have to follow. Here is some information shared by TSA officers on what you should avoid doing at the checkpoint.

Booking With Your Nickname

You should always enter your full name exactly as it shows on your ID when you buy your ticket online instead of using the name your friends call you. If the name on your boarding pass does not match your official ID it will slow down your whole travel experience right at the start.

Wearing Complicated Lace Up Shoes

Wearing boots that lace all the way up your leg will really slow you down when you are trying to get through the line fast. Slip on shoes are definitely the best way to go and you should do yourself a huge favor and wear socks so your feet stay clean.

Leaving Items Inside Your Pockets

You need to completely empty your pockets of everything including non metallic items like your favorite chewing gum and breath mints before you go through the scanner. Taking all your stuff out and putting it in your carry on bag helps you avoid getting patted down by the officers which nobody really wants.

Putting Your Phone In Shoe Bins

Placing your mobile phone in the exact same bin where everyone else just put their dirty shoes is a really bad idea for your health. You do not want to put your phone in that nasty bin and then hold it right up to your face later when you are trying to eat.

Joking About Explosive Devices

You should never joke around about having a bomb with you because the security officers take their jobs very seriously to keep everyone safe. Making those kinds of jokes will get you pulled aside for a very serious talk with police and you will probably miss your flight completely.

Putting Pets Through The Scanner

You must never send your pet or your child through the checkpoint x-ray machine because there is no reason to expose them to that. You just need to take them out of their carrier and carry them with you through the regular metal detector instead.

Bringing Firearms To The Checkpoint

People should never bring a firearm to the security checkpoint because there is a very strict and proper way to travel with those items. You have to pack it unloaded in a locked hard case and declare it at the airline counter so it goes under the plane.

Holding Your ID In Your Mouth

Using your mouth like an extra hand to hold your ID while you look at your phone is really gross and you should avoid it. Your ID goes into machines and gets handled by people all day so putting it near your mouth is just asking to catch some germs.

Putting Small Items On The Belt

Never place your keys or small snacks directly onto the x-ray conveyor belt because they will probably fall right through the rollers and get lost. It is much better to place those tiny items inside a bowl or just pack them safely away in your main carry on bag.

Bringing Full Bottles Of Water

You cannot bring a full bottle of water to the checkpoint but I know some people might think their favorite drink should be allowed. You can just bring an empty reusable cup and fill it up with fresh water on the other side to save yourself some money.
