Planning a trip should be fun but making common travel mistakes like buying tickets at the worst time can really hurt your wallet. You work hard for your money so you want to make sure you get the best deal possible. Here are the best and worst times to buy those theme park tickets.
Late August And All Of September
This is usually considered the absolute cheapest time you can buy tickets. You will save a ton of money because all the kids just went back to school and the crowds are super low if you do not mind dealing with the Florida heat and the chance of some random afternoon rain.
The First Two Weeks Of January
Right after the massive holiday rush ends the prices drop fast and the weather gets really nice and cool for walking around all day. It is a fantastic time to grab tickets without spending your whole paycheck since the parks are practically empty before the next big holiday hits.
Early May Before Memorial Day
Buying tickets for early May is a smart move. You get that sweet spot of warm weather before the summer vacation prices start kicking in and you can keep more cash in your pocket before everyone else decides to take their family trips.
The First Week Of December
You can see the amazing decorations without paying those wild Christmas ticket prices and you can try the holiday treats which are pretty decent even if they are a little too sweet for my personal taste. It gives you the full magical winter experience on a normal budget.
Christmas And New Year Weeks
This is easily the most expensive time of the entire year to buy tickets. The parks get so packed they sometimes stop letting people inside and you will end up paying top dollar just to stand in line for hours which is definitely not a great way to spend your hard earned cash.
The Entire Spring Break Season
Trying to buy tickets in March or April means you are fighting with thousands of college kids and families who all have the exact same week off. The prices shoot straight up during this time and you will barely get to ride anything because the wait times are just ridiculous.
The Middle Of July
Summer vacation means peak pricing for tickets and you might find the hot park food a bit heavy when walking around in the brutal heat though some people really love those big turkey legs. You end up paying a premium price just to sweat all day.
Thanksgiving Week In November
A lot of people think fall is a quiet time to visit but Thanksgiving week is actually one of the worst times for your wallet. Ticket prices jump back up to holiday levels and the crowds are super heavy so you really do not get good value for what you pay.
Long Holiday Weekends Like Presidents Day
Any three day weekend might seem like a convenient time to take a quick trip but Disney knows this and they jack up the ticket prices. You are much better off taking a random Tuesday off from work instead of overpaying.
